Brownie recipe without chocolate chips?

I've never used chocolate chips to make brownies. But brownies by their very nature are chocolate. However there is a good substitute for chocolate...carob...looks and measures the same as cocoa, but you will find the texture somewhat dry. So either look for carob recipes or up the oil a little to compensate for the dryness
