If so many people care about animals why are we wearing leather and suede shoes and clothes?

As a vegetarian, I understand it's upsetting to see these animals die, but what else would you want them to use the leather for? If it bothers you that much, don't buy it. I personally refuse to wear anything that comes from animal. And sometimes people have the perfect design, but the material isn't right.
