What do you suggest when this happens?

Ok here is my dilemma. I am a third generation oilfield worker. All of you people that voted for Obama and said that everything is going to be ok, then what if we wake up in another year and find out you were fooled? What if I wake up one day and hear on the news that there is no more drilling in the USA and no more coal mining in the U.S.? Considering how things are heading in the U.S. how are we going to feed the 100s of thousands of families that will be left with no income? I have 20 years in the oil field. What would you suggest? Is spreading the wealth going to take care of me and my family in the name of fairness?
