How do I get rid of yellow bellied sapsuckers from my yard? They are killing my beautiful weeping birch tree.?

I live in west central saskatchewan. I have woodpeckers ( I think yellow bellied sapsuckers) and they are killing my beautiful weeping birch. What will deter them? HELP!!!!!
