Do florists contribute to the escalating CO2 emissions?

Deforestation of the rainforest's obviously causes the release of lots of CO2 into the ozone layer and is therefore frowned upon. But surely flowers go through photosynthesis too and therefore when they're cut for florists, CO2 is released into the atmosphere too but we seem to accept it as an industry that provides a good innocent service. Should there be some form of regulation in place (if there isn't already) to monitor such emissions?
