What would be good things to wear to NYC next week?

I just bought two dresses for the two broadway shows I'm going to. For the lion king I got this cly looking purple/pink dress with little spots that sorta look like cheetah. For phantom I got a black and white dress, with flower like designs, with a bow in the back. Both from kohls, and I'll wear both with heals. That should be good right? Also, what should I wear just around the city? I don't want to stand out as a tourist. How do people in NYC dress? We're going to be staying in a really nice part of Manhattan. Also, every day we are going to have rehearsals with John Rutter for Carnegie Hall, so should I dress up for that? I heard the west coast is way more casual than NY so I'm sorta concerned.
