When I brush my cat, a hugh amount of hair comes out, why?

Cats shed a lot, depending on what type. When I brush my cat I can fill a small grocery bag full of her hair. If it seems to be excessive see if you can call a vet and ask them their take on it, or even take your cat in to see the vet.
