Harry Potter And The Order of the Phoenix Question?

After Harry is caught by Umbridge trying to contact Sirius in her fireplace and she is going to interrogate him she calls in snape. Harry says to Snape "They have Padfoot at the place where it's hidden". Did they ever say if snape communicated this message. i was reading it last night and i was wondering if snape even understood it. what do you guys think?
